Joining your first class can be a little daunting, here at Discover Pilates we like to make everyone feel welcome and introduce you to the class with ease.
Knowing what to bring with you and preparing for your first Pilates class can take away some of the pressure.
As always, it’s important to stay hydrated, especially whilst you are practicing Pilates. Bringing a water bottle will help you to keep hydrated and focused.
We advise all of our clients to wear something that you feel comfortable to workout in such as a t-shirt, shorts, leggings, etc. As long as your clothes give you enough room to move and stretch fully, you will be fine.
Keep in mind that your instructor will need to be able to see your body enough to see the alignment of your bones and how your muscles are engaging. If you can, baggy clothes should be avoided.
It’s not necessary to wear shoes for the classes as they are not needed, however, not everyone likes to work out in bare, you can buy toe socks or suitable socks online should you wish to workout in socks.
Accessories to a minimum
If you can, avoid excess accessories, long, dangling jewellery such as necklaces and bracelets as they could be quite dangerous if they were to get caught. Long hair should ideally be tied up and out of the face too.
Arrive on Time
It’s important to try and arrive on time so that you don’t disrupt the flow of the class. If it’s your first class, it’s also advised to try and arrive earlier so you can get set up and meet other members of the class and get to know your instructor.
If you have any questions for your instructor, before and after the class is a perfect time to ask them or if you have any questions when you are away from the class, you can contact us via the website or email at any time and we would be more than happy to help.
Although it may be nerve-racking to begin with, we encourage you to enjoy yourself, de-stress and have fun practicing Pilates.
